In addition, Luis can be contacted to meet with you and your staff in person to review questions and set up peer-to-peer meetings. Phone: 949-824-0305 Email: Luisd2@hs.uci.edu

Referrals submitted through the online referral portal are generally initiated within 24 hours. Referrals submitted via fax are generally initiated within 48 hours.

For patients with PPO insurance or straight Medicare, the referral will move to our Patient Access Center, which will contact the patient directly to schedule an appointment.

For patients with HMO insurance, authorization is required, including the appropriate CPT codes for the applicable diagnosis, before scheduling can proceed. If UCI Health is not contracted with the patient’s insurance medical group, we will request a Letter of Authorization (LOA). For non-urgent referrals, the LOA process may take approximately 30 days.

Once the UCI Health Referral Department has received and completed all necessary information, the referring provider will receive a notification confirming that the referral has been processed and the patient is ready to schedule.

After the referral is processed, the patient will receive a text message instructing them to call and schedule their appointment at their convenience. A letter will also be mailed to the patient with the same information.
